A Pride of a PAULINIAN

THE BEGINNING:

The Sisters of the Congregation of St. Paul of Chartres (SPC) ventured into this verdant valley - home of Cagayanos in 1907, on the invitation of hte Diocese of Cagayan, 303 years after the founding of the town of Tuguegarao in 1604. One Chinese and four French Sisters together with one Filipina Postulant, became the nucleus of the Community of SPC Sisters. They planted the seed of Paulinian Education in Cagayan that has grown through the years to become the foundation of the First Catholic University in region 02.

The Tuguegarao Paulinian family takes pride in being the lead university of the St. Paul University System, the first to be recognized by the Commission on higher Education.

THE VISION:

St. Paul University Philippines is an internationally recognized institution dedicated to the formation of competent leaders and responsible citizens of their communities, country, and the world.

THE MISSION:

Animated by the gospel and guided by the teachings of the Church, it helps to uplift the quality of life and to effect social transformation through:

(1) Quality, Catholic, Paulinian formation, academic excellence, research, and community services;

(2) Optimum access to Paulinian education and services in an atmosphere of compassionate caring; and

(3) Responsive and innovative management processes.

My goal as a Paulinian is this:
to proclaim JESUS CHRIST as the GOOD NEWS
to all... in response to the need for TOTAL SALVATION
from materialism, unjust structures,
and apathy through EDUCATION and Care of the SICK.
Thus, if life seems rough and the way is dark,
I will remember this goal
to proclaim Christ at all times like Mary and Paul
for I believe what Jesus says:
"I am with you till the end of time"
And so, each day as I travel on
I will remember that I'm a Paulinian,
committed to Jesus Christ my Lord,
to love and serve one another
till in Him we unite.

At St. Paul University we uphold:
Academic Excellence and Christian Formation
as a means for total formation of the youth
to be Enlightened Persons, Filipinos,
Christian Leaders, Paulinians for Christ
in service of the poor and Community.
As I go through life I will hold on fast
my Christian heritage of Faith; the Fatherhood of God.
Man's dignity and passion for truth,
imbued with Pauline principles,
"Caritas Christi Urget Nos". The I'll live each day
in self-surrender ever challenged to share
my human giftedness in selfless leadership to give my life,
my all, my talents that we may live in God's love.

EDUCATION

You want to be in a gang
And shoot up everything with a bang
You say they'll have your back
But education is what you lack
Education is the key to life
And not getting stabbed with a knife
Education will lead you to great heights
And not to everyday fights
Education will help you excel
Not lead you to a county jail
You won't find yourself doing ten
In any county pen
Or being charged with first degree murder
In a court of order
And as your family wail
You're getting life without bail
Be in a gang and stay there for keeps
You'll find yourself underground six feet deep
So instead of being laid to rest
Get an education and be the best.
